Estimator / Senior Estimator
Location: Columbus, Ohio (Relocation Assistance Available for Candidates with Ties to the Area)
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 (commensurate with experience)
Overview:
Our client, a well-established general contractor with a reputation for excellence in the construction industry, is seeking a skilled Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their team in Columbus, Ohio. This role requires expertise in self-perform work, conceptual bidding, and full project scope estimating. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and a preference is given to individuals with field experience that enhances their understanding of constructability and project execution.
Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates with ties to the region.
Responsibilities:
As an Estimator / Senior Estimator, you will:
- Lead Full Project Scope Estimation: Review proposal requirements, conduct risk analyses, and determine scopes of work and estimate components.
- Develop Accurate Estimates: Prepare conceptual, self-perform, hard bid, and GMP estimates for diverse and complex projects.
- Perform Detailed Analyses: Generate quantity takeoffs and man-hour-based estimates using historical data, subcontractor input, and productivity metrics.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction Teams: Provide constructability reviews, schedule input, value engineering suggestions, and support for target value delivery.
- Self-Perform Leadership: Guide manpower and resource planning for self-perform trades during preconstruction.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 5 years of estimating experience, with a focus on self-perform work and conceptual bids.
- Field Background (Preferred): Previous field experience to enhance constructability insights and project planning.
- Project Expertise: Experience in sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, higher education, and food & beverage manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating techniques, cost control systems, and construction engineering disciplines.
- Education: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
